In this 4 paragraph essay, I am going to compare the Maya with both the Inca and Aztec by exploring what they farmed and traded. I chose farming and trading because I think they are important and they are the most common to all the civilizations.
Farming

Like all civilizations, the Maya farmed. They grew food like cocoa, squash, beans, avacados, pumpkins, and chili peppers. Their main crop was "Maize" (which is corn in Mayan.) Corn was very important to the Maya, in fact, Corn was so important that they believe that they were made from Corn, water, and sand. They farmed in their "Milpa," which is Corn Field in Mayan. The Inca farmed potatoes (their main crop,) corn, beans, and squash. the Inca raised llama and alpaca for food, wool, hides, and transportation. The animals were exceptionally sure footed on the hilly terrain. The Aztec grew Corn, beans, squash, avocados, peppers, tomatoes, sunflowers, and tobacco.
Advanced Technology

One of the Mayan advanced technologies was making the Mayan calender. It was carved out of rock (a calender is the picture on the left.) They made millions and millions of calenders. Last day of their last calendar is on December 21, 2012. The Maya did their calendars different from us, so that's why the last Mayan calendar has 21 days on it. Many people think the world was going to end on that day because they stopped. Researchers and scientists say the world won't end, but their will be a new Era. The Inca had a road system, the most advanced roads in South America. Their roads went all through the Andes Mountains. The Aztec made many canoes in Central America. They used their canoe to go up and down their lakes, in search for food.
Conclusion
The Maya had a lot in common with the Aztec and Inca, for example, they all farmed, they all had their advanced technologies, and they all had their fall. They all had farming in common because they first hunted and gathered. They had alot in common with their advanced technologies like the Mayan Calender, the Inca Road System, and the Aztec canoe. The Maya had a great civilization. They had over 30 cities, 365 pyramids, and many calenders. The Maya improved as they went along like they went from hunting and gathering to farming and eating, they went from getting all their techniques from the Olmec to making up their own ideas, and they went from 20 glyphs to 1,000 glyphs. The Maya was one of the great civilizations from years past, and if you want to study, there's a lot to study, but you do learn a lot. So have fun learning about the Maya, and you can become a Maya knower. Have fun learning about the Maya!
